Wedding anniversaries

A wedding anniversary is marked by a married couple on the date on which their wedding took place. The day also is celebrated by all those who care to celebrate it with the couple. In the United Kingdom, those who celebrate their 60th, 65th, 70th and beyond wedding anniversaries receives a message from the Queen. In the United States, a couple may receive a congratulations greeting from the President after the 50th anniversary; in Australia a greeting may be sent by the Prime Minister. Roman Catholics may apply for a Papal Blessing through their local Diocese for 25th, 50th, 60th and beyond wedding anniversaries.
